Coimbatore: The Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Coimbatore. The VOC Park ground near Nehru Stadium was packed from early in the morning as a number of people gathered to watch the celebrations. The district collector then honored police personnel with medals for their meritorious service. This was followed by cultural performances. Almost 700 students from different schools and colleges in and around the city entertained the crowd with their performance, which included Bharatanatyam and modern dance.
