Siliguri: The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed on 9 August each year to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population. This event also recognizes the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve world issues such as environmental protection.
At present, the world is facing a grave pandemic known as Coronavirus or COVID-19 and the people are fighting for their lives as the pandemic is taking many lives. In order to protect the people from the attack of the COVID-19 pandemic, the front line warriors are taking all their efforts to save the lives of the people. As the police are one of the front line warriors fighting against COVID-19 they are taking all the efforts to save lives.
On the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, Siliguri Police of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate distributed Masks, Sanitizer, Immunity booster, and Vitamin tablets to the Adibhasi people at different places under SPC area and also organized Awareness program to prevent COVID-19.
