Rachakonda: In an ongoing drive against habitual offenders to create a sense of safety and security to the General Public within the limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate, CP, Rachakonda has invoked PD Act against the remaining gang member of Chain snatching and detained him in the Central prison, Cherlapally on 03-12-2020.
The offenders 1) Rapani Venkatesh. 2) Mucha Vamshi Krishna, 3) Varikuppala Prakash hailed from Munaganoor of Hayathnagar Mandal and all studied up to 10th class. They gave up further studies and started working as private employees. They came to know each other and the trio became close friends. In order to meet lavish expenses, they decided to commit robberies and snatchings. In furtherance of their plan, they started committing robberies/chain snatching offenses in the different Police stations limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate. They move in the colonies on two motorbikes and while one of them was observing surroundings, the remaining two approaches the women who were walking by foot and forcibly robbed gold chains/Mangalasutrams from the neck of women, sleeping women in the night hours in villages and flee away from the spot. Thus, since 2019 so far, they committed as many as (11) robberies/chain snatching offenses in the various Police station limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate,
Acting on a tip-off, Meerpet Police arrested all the three accused on 29-08-2020 and seized stolen booty i.e Gold ornaments weighing about 176.9 grams, two Motor Cycles, which were used in the commission of offenses from their possession and houses. They were remanded to judicial custody and lodged in the Central Prison, Cherlapally.
As such, with a view to preventing them from committing such Chain snatching offenses, an order of detention under the PD Act has been made against them on 27-11-2020 by Mr. Mahesh M. Bhagwat, I.P.S., CP, Rachakonda and (02) of them 1) Rapani Venkatesh, 2) Varikuppala Prakash were already lodged in Central Prison Cherlapally on 28-11-2020 and now the remaining offender Mucha Vamshi Krishna has been detained in the Central Prison Cherlapally on 03-12-2020
