Kolkata: On Saturday, January 30th. Additional OC of Tiljala Traffic Guard Mr. Sauvik Chakraborty and Sergeant Mr. Sumanta Pal were on duty near the ‘Ma’ flyover. An ambulance had crashed on the flyover on the way to the hospital. On receiving the news the two traffic police personal hurried to the scene, and first called a Calcutta Police ‘Trauma Care’ ambulance parked near Science City as an alternative.
But since the condition of the 60-year-old patient with a cerebral stroke was so critical that he was in need of an intensive care ambulance. Realizing that not a single moment of time could be wasted, Sergeant Mr. Sumanta Pal went out with his bike to bring in a mechanic who can repair the ambulance from a nearby factory. And he returned very quickly with the mechanic, the crippled ambulance was repaired.
Despite all efforts, some time has already elapsed, with Inspector Mr. Sauvik Chakraborty arranging a ‘Green Corridor’ in coordination with the Traffic Control Room so that there is no further delay in reaching the hospital. The ambulance reached the hospital in eight minutes, and the patient is currently undergoing treatment.
