Delhi: The DCP Cybercrime Mr. Anyesh Roy IPS while creating awareness on online fraud said please be alert when you have listed your house for rent on a property portal. You may get a call from an online scammer posing as a prospective tenant. He will offer advance rental by online fund transfer and send a QR code. The Police said to be cautious and don’t scan as it is a scam. Your linked account will be debited. Please note that scanning a QR Code always debits your Account. If the prospective tenant is showing hurry and is rushing through things, then please be cautious and don’t get tempted by Advance Rental.
