Kolkata: With educational institutions closed for over a year owing to the pandemic, online classes and tuition have become part and parcel of life for our children and young people. Not all children, however, have access to either the equipment or the money to reap the benefits of online education. Take the underprivileged children of Madhu Basti, a slum near Majerhat Railway Station, who have neither the opportunity of online classes nor can their parents afford private tuition. Now, as a humanitarian service, the South West Traffic Guard, under the leadership of OC Mr. Prosenjit Chatterjee, has arranged for interactive tuition classes for these children for two hours every evening, until their schools reopen.
