Kolkata: Late in the evening on Sunday, our colleagues at Survey Park Police Station were alerted that an elderly lady aged about 80 was lying in a distressed condition near Metro Cash and Carry on E.M. Bypass. Sub-Inspector Ms. Rupali Roy Chowdhury of Survey Park Police Station immediately left for the spot and on reaching there, provided assistance to the lady and assured her of her safety.
However, the lady was incoherent and was just able to say that her name was Mercy. From bits and pieces of her speech, it was gathered that she lived somewhere near Kasba Bosepukur. Sub-Inspector Ms. Rupali Roy Chowdhury now left for the Bosepukur area, but could not locate the lady’s residence despite a painstaking search.
So the lady was brought back to the Police Station, and a detailed local inquiry was launched. Finally, local sources helped us find the family members of the lady, whose identity was established as Mrs. Mercy Francis, and she was handed over to her son Anand Francis, who informed us that his mother has been suffering from age-related ailments. We wish them all the best for the future.
