Kolkata: Members of the infamous Jamtara gang had stepped up their activities recently, focusing mainly on the outskirts of Kolkata, taking deliveries of fraudulently obtained goods in Kestopur and Rajarhat areas. Based on information from our source network, we conducted raids in Kestopur, Sapoorji, Kasba, and Dashdrone areas last night, arresting a total of 16 persons.
They were working from these areas to collect bank account numbers and phone numbers, withdrawing money from ATMs, purchasing goods, and taking delivery of those items. A total of 188 debit cards of different banks, 78 mobile phones, and 6 laptops have been seized from their possession.
Sub Inspectors Mr. Jitendra Prasad, Mr. Goutam Lama, Mr. Amit Kumar Singh, and officers from the Anti Bank Fraud Section of the Detective Department conducted the raids.
