Bhopal: On 17 September 2021 Additional Director General of Police SCRB Mr. Chanchal Shekhar IPS informed that the trial run of e-FIR was started from 12th August. Through this, FIRs of vehicle theft and general theft (worth less than one lakh) are being done electronically. A total of 328 e-FIRs have been registered in the trial run to date. In which 77 automobiles, 39 electronic items, 21 jewelry, and seven documents are included. During this, 107 FIRs were quashed due to duplication, knowing the accused, assault (use of force) in the incident, and missing reports. ADG Mr. Shekhar informed that training of all police officers/employees, distribution of mobile phones in police stations (on which SMS alerts of e-FIR request will be received) in the police stations, and for information of vehicles across India soon after integration with RTO. ADG Mr. Shekhar informed that, in the recently published “Crime in India” by NCRB, the total IPC crime in the year 2020 stood at 2 lakh 83 thousand 881, which is fifth in comparison to other states. In the year 2020, the M.P. States with a lesser population like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu has more total crime. He informed that the e-investigation app is being developed soon in collaboration with MapIT. This will be helpful in making the discussion more robust and transparent.
