Siliguri: In compliance with orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta as well as WBPCB, extensive checks and raids were conducted by Siliguri Metropolitan Police under the leadership of DCP East, Mr. Joy Tudu IPS, DCP West, Mr. Kunwar Bhushan IPS, ACP East, Mr. Shubhendra Kumar IPS, ACP West, Mr. Manish Yadav WBPS and ICs/ OCs of Police Stations with a good contingent of force as well as DD SPC at various market areas. All prohibited crackers were seized and unlicensed sellers were rounded up.
More than 5000 kilograms of prohibited and illegal crackers have been seized so far and more than 25 persons have been arrested who are engaged in this illegal sale.
Citizens are urged to buy Green Crackers from only Licensed Vendors and use them only between 8 pm to 10 pm on the day of Kali Puja and Deepawali.
