Kolkata: The premises of the 5th Battalion at Ultodanga will henceforth be home to Kolkata Police’s new initiative, the Chess and Archery Academy, inaugurated yesterday by Hon’ble Commissioner Mr. Soumen Mitra IPS in the presence of other high-ranking police officers. The international standard academy will offer training not only to Kolkata Police personnel and their family members but to the general public as well. While international Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua will impart chess training, renowned archers Dola and Rahul Bandyopadhyay will be in charge of archery. The Kolkata Police Athletic Club will supervise the day-to-day running of the academy.
