Rachakonda: On receipt of credible information, the sleuths of Special Operations Team, LB Nagar Zone, Rachakonda busted online Horse Race and Cricket betting racket apprehended four respondents namely Thirmal Reddy Joji Reddy (41), Aduri Joseph Reddy (39), Daka. Ramchandra Reddy (52), Franklin Koma Reddy (39), Bokka Madhav Reddy (47), were illegally running the racket by creating two WhatsApp groups of punters to communicate and update parallel to the online. Seized Net Cash Rs.42, 00,000/-, (02) Laptops, (05) Mobile phones and other articles used to run the illegal betting racket, collectively worth Rs.43 lakhs from their possession. A case was registered under the Telangana State Gaming Act of Meerpet Police Station, Rachakonda.
The respondent Thermal Reddy Joji Reddy resident of Nandanavanam, Meerpet, and Native of Reddypalem (V), Kothur (M), RR District. He lost huge money in horse race betting. Later he hatched a plan to gain easy and illegal money to become a Horse racing bookie.
“During the nationwide lockdown, people remained staying at home and there were no horse races in the country. The races resumed in November 2020, but many people preferred to bet on horses using online modes and through phones in the bet365 app.”
One must bet on a horse on the premises of a racecourse. If bets are accepted beyond the premises of a racecourse, it is illegal in nature. The respondents were found accepting bets from people over phones and through online means for their benefit in order to cheat the common public.”
Thermal Reddy Joji Reddy started un-authorized organized horse race betting in Whatsapp groups with punters from his rented house in Nandanavanam, Meerpet and started illegal horse race betting through known and unknown punters across the Hyderabad other places by using technology copying/posting screenshots in Whatsapp groups such as True Stars, RC Legends and accepting betting from punters. The punters also are well aware of the illegality in the entire episode. He used to accept online bets and money through e-wallets Google pay, Phonepay, to record the money transactions (in and out) he appointed Aduri Joseph Reddy as sub-organizer, Franklin Koma Reddy as Accountant, and used to pay Rs.40,000/-as salary per month to him.
While organizing betting Horse Races in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai by watching the bet365 app, he used to post the screenshots of the race in the Whatsapp groups. The punters B. Madhava Reddy and D. Ramachandra Reddy and others use to pay and play the game by joining the game.
On 3.2.2022 afternoon hours, on credible information the SOT. LB Nagar Zone team along with Meerpet police raided House No. 8-13-61/12, Nandanavanam, Near TKR, College, Meerpet and apprehended the respondents while organizing betting on Bangalore Race and accepting bettings from punters through mobile phones from various places.
The above raid was made under the direct supervision of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate, Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, IPS., Addl. Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Mr. Sunpreeth Singh, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, LB Nagar Zone, and Mr. P. Yadagiri, IPS. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes), I/c. Special Operations Team. Rachakonda, by Mr. B. Anji Reddy, Inspector of Police, SOT, LB Nagar Zone, Mr. M. Mahender Reddy, Inspector of Police, Meerpet Police Station, Sub-Inspectors Mr. Mohd.
