Chennai: In January 2020, a 16-year-old girl living in the Adyar police district was sexually abused by her father for several years, and the girl’s mother and father aborted the pill while the girl was pregnant, according to a complaint lodged by a member of the Children’s Aid Center.
The girl’s father sexually abused the girl from the age of about 7 and then assaulted her during a police investigation led by a Guindy All Women Police Station Inspector. It was revealed that the girl was sexually assaulted and thus the girl became pregnant in 2019 and the girl’s father threatened to kill his wife and her daughter if the mother told this, and thus the mother and father together gave the girl abortion pills and performed the abortion. In that regard, the case was registered at the Kindi All Women’s Police Station under various sections of the law, including the girl’s father Kathivaran (48) and mother Manjula (36) who were arrested and sent to court custody.The case is being heard on 29.04.2022 at the Pokcho Special Court in the Chennai High Court premises.
Judgment was rendered. Kadiravan and Manjula were convicted in the case and sentenced to life imprisonment and Manjula to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10, 000/-.The Chennai Metropolitan Police High Command lauded the Kindi All Women Police Station Inspector and the Judicial Working Police Team for their excellent investigation into the case, special attention to court proceedings and sentencing of the culprit.
