The DCP said that Anil Kumar of Ghaziabad had lodged a complaint at the Paschim Vihar East police station on May 1 alleging that members of the ‘Honey Trap’ gang had extorted Rs.1.5 lakh from him. The case has been registered as per the complaint. In view of the seriousness of the case, a team comprising SI Pritam, ASI Mr. Rakesh, Head Constable Mr. Praveen and others led by Inspector Mr. Ajmer of Special Staff was formed to crack the sector racket and nab the culprits.
The police team inquired about the origins of the “honey trap” and began an effort to identify the perpetrators of such incidents. Police also took comprehensive information about the incident from the complainant on the occasion. He said in the complaint that he had threatened the accused, who turned out to be a fake cop, for fear of giving him lakhs and a half rupees. According to information received from the complainant, the police raided the flat he had mentioned. The accused, however, fled the scene. While investigating the flat owner, a suspect named Pawan was found and a lease agreement was made in his name. When he showed the complainant a photo from the lease agreement, he spotted him and said that day Pawan along with two of his colleagues had attacked the flat pretending to be a police officer. When the flat owner was questioned again, the flat owner told the police that Pawan was not a policeman and that Pawan was working for a private company. The owner of the flat said that Pawan lives here with his two friends and sometimes a woman comes with him. The police who identified the accused started collecting information about him.
Police learned that the three accused were coming to the flat to pick up their belongings. After confirming the matter, the police arrested the three accused near Jwala Hairy Market in West Vihar. They were interrogated and at trial the accused turned out to be Pawan Syndicate King Pin. Pawan said he met Honey Trap Master Neeraj in Bahadurgarh. From that he learned the honey trap techniques. Pawan met a girl named Honeypreet on Facebook and planned to make money with her by trapping Honey. For this he rented a flat in Paschim Vihar. Honeypreet created a fake Facebook ID under the name Ritu Bansal on social media, spoke to the complainant via video chat and called the flat to meet him,
According to the plan, after the complainant arrived, the three accused attacked the flat pretending to be fake cops. One of the accused, Manjeet, was wearing a sub-inspector’s uniform while the other two became his subordinates. In this fake attack, the accused were requesting the victims to give money to the Honeypreet police and get out of them. In this case, during the interrogation, the police also seized the sub-inspector’s uniform used in the crime as per the confession of accused Manjeet. The police are constantly on the lookout to catch the accused Honeypreet. Police have launched a further investigation into the case and are constantly on the lookout for female accused Honeypreet, Delhi police said.
