Thrissur City: The Thrissur City Cybercrime Police arrested Ranjith from Telangana State, who is involved in fraud by promising to pay money for data entry work online and then sending the data and demanding money in the form of tax for completing the data entry work and sending the salary. He is a native of Thrissur Killimangalam Moscow Centre.
The fraud gang, which includes the accused, sends the data to the candidates after making them believe that they will be paid for doing data entry work through various social media. Their modus operandi is to cheat by stealing money and not paying the salary by claiming that the salary for the work done will be given only if the data entry job is completed and the salary is demanded.
In this way, the victims did the data entry work as requested by the accused and sent 35100 rupees as tax and on not receiving the salary, filed a complaint at All City Cyber Crime Police Station. The accused is a native of Thrissur. According to the complaint, the cases were registered at the Thrissur City Cyber Crime Police Station and the accused were arrested after investigation.
The accused was arrested from Telangana after the police team spent a week in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It has been learned that the accused have extorted money from many people in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The police are investigating the other suspects in the fraud gang, which includes Malayalis.
