TIRUCHIRAPALLI: The body of a 17-year-old Dalit girl, who was suspected to be raped and murdered, was found by the Police at a well in Sirugambur village on December 29 last year. A case was filed by Irumbukurichi Police and four persons Manikandan, a Hindu Munnani union secretary and his friend Manivannan were arrested. They were lodged in the prison recently, Police said. Following this on February 3 the Ariyalur district Collector A Saravanavel Raj recommended to detain Manikandan under the Goondas Act. The letter was forwarded to the Tiruchy central prison where the accused has been lodged.
