Bhopal: On the instructions of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a special campaign against drugs has been started by Madhya Pradesh Police from October 8. Under the campaign, actions are being taken under the narcotics, illicit liquor, drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol in public places, as well as hookah bar lounges and under the Cigarette and Tobacco Prohibition Act. The police is busy in eliminating the illegal drug trade. Today Jabalpur police seized 895 intoxicants and registered cases against the accused.
Action taken by the police in the entire state on 19th October under drug de-addiction campaign
In 44 cases of NDPS Act, 48 accused were arrested and 67 kg of illegal drugs were confiscated. Action was taken against 897 accused by confiscating 6633 liters of illicit liquor.
Action was taken against 296 people who consumed alcohol in public places. Cases have been registered against 80 drivers for drunken driving and against 504 people under CATP ACT. Police checked 1585 places where illegal drugs were intoxicated and 2279 places where illegal drinking/drinking was done. In addition, 975 awareness programs were conducted.
