Oct 21st is observed as Police Commemoration Day every year to remember Supreme sacrifice of brave hearts who lost their lives in the line of duty during Chinese Firing at Hot Springs, Ladakh-1959. Today Smriti Parade-Police Flag Day is held at IGMS, Vijayawada to remember the valour and supreme sacrifice of brave hearts for the motherland.
Hon’ble Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. YS. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Hon’ble Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Ms. Taneti Vanitha, DGP Andhra Pradesh Mr. K.V. Rajendranath Reddy IPS and other dignitaries attended the Parade. The arms are reversed and two minutes silence is observed in the honor of the departed souls. Commemoration Parades are also held in all district units as a mark of respect to all Police Martyrs.
Commemorative programs such as; Visiting of Villages/Towns/Schools of Martyrs, Debate in Schools/Colleges, Organizing Movie shows on bravery shown by Police, Inauguration of exhibition and organizing Open House, Band Shows, Medical Camps Honoring of Special Achievers among the siblings of Police and Seminar/ Lectures will be organized in all districts across the State from October 21 to October 31(Rashtriya Ekta Diwas).
