VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Traffic Police seized as many as 32 high end bikes and counseled the owners of the bikes on Monday on charges of taking part in bike races during the Sivarathri festival. The Police imposed huge fines on them, Police told Policenewsplus.com. The youngsters were involved in bike racing on Shivarathri night at several stretches from RK Beach to Bheemili, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mr K Mahendra Pattadu. More than 1,000 youth were involved in racing but only 32 among them were caught. A few bikers were caught red-handedly on the day itself and in case of several others, the police noted down the registration numbers of the vehicles they were driven on a good speed, Police said. Fine of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 can be charged on the youth for violations including causing public inconvenience on the festival day, Police said. If the youth are repeat the same mistake in future their driving licences will be cancelled, Visakhapatnam Traffic Police said. ]]>
