Poaching by Foreigners in the Islands territories is one of the major challenge for the Police in North and Middle Andaman District. Foreign Poachers from Myanmar are coming to collect sea wealth from Andaman & Nicobar islands which have immense value in the international market. To check foreign threat, guards have been deployed at remote pockets of this district. In an incident on 2.2.2023, troops of LOP Narcondum guard while on routine sea patrolling noticed two foreign dinghies, acting swiftly and courageously the patrolling team chased and rounded-up the foreign boats to make them surrender. In this incident two dinghies along with 10 Myanmarese poachers were apprehended but few of them jumped into the sea and swam towards the coast and fled into the Jungle. Later, in a month long search, 4 more poachers have been apprehended. In another incident on 23.2.2023 police got an input by a fisherman of Diglipur locality that he has sighted a foreign Dinghy at Jol Tikery. A Police team which was already on sea patrolling at West Coast was diverted to the spot and LOP Karen Nallah was also informed to coordinate with other team for search. Both the police team met at Jamun Tikery creek and conducted massive search. After a long hour search in the dense forest they were able to locate the hidden dinghy and later they apprehended 7 Myanmarese poachers and brought them to Diglipur Police Station. During the month of February, 2023, total 19 poachers were apprehended and all of them were immediately shifted to Ps CCs, Port Blair for further legal action.
