Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police has taken continuous and stringent action across the state under Operation Prahar to combat the manufacturing and possession of illegal firearms. Recently, the Chambal police launched a special campaign to seize illegal weapons and firearms in Morena, Bhind, and Datia districts. During the five-day campaign, police conducted continuous vehicle checks and made several arrests and seizures based on informer’s information and other means.
The campaign was conducted under the guidance of IG Mr. Sushant Saxena of Chambal Zone, resulting in the recovery of 105 illegal firearms, 121 rounds of ammunition, and the arrest of 107 miscreants. Police also seized 21 two-wheelers, 1 four-wheeler, and detained four individuals who were carrying licensed weapons registered in the name of others. The police took strict action against those who shared videos of themselves with illegal weapons on social media and registered cases against them.
The police also engage in efforts to establish dialogue with illegal weapon manufacturers and bring them into mainstream society. Madhya Pradesh Police continuously monitors and takes action against those involved in the manufacture and smuggling of illegal weapons, including those who bring them from other states. The police also organize mass dialogue programs in villages to connect Sikligars (illegal weapon manufacturers) with mainstream society. The primary objective of the police is to protect the public and prevent crimes. In the Chambal division alone, the police have seized a significant number of illegal firearms and cartridges, resulting in the arrest of many criminals.
