SHILLONG: In Meghalaya’s North Garo Hills district an angry mob attacked and burnt down a Police station when three persons were injured in a Police firing, an official told on Tuesday. Violence erupted on Monday night after a Police team stationed at a checkpoint in Kaldang area fired at a vehicle when its driver refused to stop at a barricade despite signaling, a Police official said Mr.S.B. Singh, Chief of Police, Meghalaya said, ‘after receiving inputs for about one week about militant movements checking of vehicles has been increased in the district”. After Police firing Mr. Singh the mob burnt down the Resubelpara Police Station, its temporary barracks and police vehicles. More details were awaited on the entire incident, and although the situation was under control they were keeping a close watch. Three persons who had been injured were shifted to a private hospital in Assam’s city of Guwahati among whom one is said to be critical. A hardcore criminal William A.
