Thrissur City: In preparation for the Thrissur Pooram festival, the city of Thrissur has implemented a comprehensive security plan. The plan includes the installation of more than 600 CCTV cameras throughout the city to ensure 24-hour strong surveillance from the police central control room. The control room at Thekinkad Maidan is also equipped with monitoring and control systems, which allows the authorities to detect any untoward incidents happening in the city in real-time and take immediate action. Precautionary measures have already been taken to identify habitual offenders by conducting special drives.
To further enhance security, systems are also in place to specifically monitor and identify gangs within and outside the district that are involved in crimes like extortion and theft. Police officers who have received expert training from other districts have been deployed to Thrissur to assist with security arrangements.
The security plan also takes into consideration the representation of women police officers. The number of women police officers has been increased among the 4,000 police officers who will be deployed during the festival. With such a comprehensive security plan in place, the authorities are confident that they can ensure the safety and security of both locals and visitors during the Thrissur Pooram festival.
