Chamarajanagar: On this auspicious day, an enlightening one-day awareness workshop was meticulously organized on behalf of the esteemed District Health & Family Welfare Department and the esteemed District Tobacco Control Unit. The workshop took place at the distinguished hall of the District Police Office, where it aimed to disseminate valuable knowledge and insights regarding the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption on health, as well as providing a comprehensive understanding of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA-2003).

Esteemed officers and dedicated staff of the revered Police Department were the honored recipients of this informative event, which sought to empower them with the necessary information to combat the menace of tobacco use within their ranks and the community at large. Throughout the workshop, passionate experts and speakers delved into the myriad health hazards associated with tobacco consumption, shedding light on the alarming statistics of tobacco-related illnesses and their impact on individuals, families, and society as a whole.

Subsequently, participants were guided through a series of captivating presentations and interactive sessions, each meticulously designed to build a profound awareness of the health risks linked to tobacco usage. The workshop emphasized the critical role of the Police Department in upholding and enforcing the COTPA-2003 Act, which is instrumental in regulating and curbing the production, distribution, and consumption of tobacco products.

Participants were also enlightened about the provisions of the COTPA-2003 Act, which encompass various bans and restrictions on tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship. They were familiarized with the legal obligations in terms of displaying mandatory health warnings on tobacco product packages and the prohibition of sales to minors. The workshop, as an exhaustive endeavor, underscored the importance of adhering to these laws for the greater welfare of the community.
