Chikkamagaluru: The Women’s Police Station’s Principal Investigator (PI) along with a dedicated team of female police officers paid a comprehensive visit to St. Mary’s PU College located in Chikkamagalur. During this visit, they engaged in meaningful interactions with the students, aiming to raise awareness and educate them on various critical subjects.
The topics covered included a detailed understanding of child rights, providing extensive information about cybercrime and its implications, as well as a thorough explanation of the POCSO Act, which is crucial in safeguarding the rights of minors. In addition, the team shed light on the pernicious effects of drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a drug-free environment.
Furthermore, the students were sensitized to the significance of emergency helplines, with specific emphasis on the child helpline number 1098, ensuring they are aware of a vital resource should they ever find themselves in need of assistance or guidance. Additionally, the 112 helpline was highlighted as another crucial avenue for seeking help in various emergency situations.
This visit was not only an opportunity to disseminate essential information but also a chance to foster a sense of safety, security, and trust between law enforcement and the students, ultimately contributing to a safer and more informed community.
