Mannar: The accused, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, returned and carried out a major robbery in Mannar without the use of a mobile phone. They were apprehended in that state. The accused departed from Kerala with gold jewelry, cash, and valuable watches stolen from the residences of a non-resident businessman and a nearby doctor in Mannar. They also took the DVR from the CCTV cameras at the targeted house.
Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was observed that on the night of the theft, three individuals were seen hurrying away with the loot covered. However, they were not captured by cameras further down the road. This led the investigation to focus on Arif, a native of Uttar Pradesh who operates a barber shop. The inquiry then extended to Arif’s cousin, Rizwan Sefi, and his accomplice, Muhammad Salman. After the robbery, Mohammad Salman fled to Uttar Pradesh, while Rizwan headed to Hyderabad. Arif, on the other hand, remained at the barbershop.
The police tracked down Mohammad Salman to a village called Shivalakalan in Delhi, where he resided in a lavish residence amidst a vast sugarcane plantation. When Salman spotted the police, he attempted to flee, but they pursued and apprehended him. The U.P. police provided assistance in this operation. Simultaneously, another team apprehended Rizwan in Hyderabad, and Arif was taken into custody from his barber shop. The court subsequently remanded Muhammad Salman, Arif, and Rizwan in custody for 14 days.
