Rachakonda: Justice was finally served in a Special POCSO Court trial that deeply impacted the city’s conscience. The case, registered under IPC Section 366, 376 (1), 417, 506 IPC, and Section 3 read with Section 4 of the POCSO Act 2012 at P5 Saroornagar, involved charges of abduction, rape, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and sexual assault against a child. The accused was identified as Pandula Nagaraju Son of Late Sudharshan Age: 23 years Occupation: Car Driver Native of: Ranga Reddy District.
The Investigating Officer (IO) diligently collected statements from witnesses and circumstantial evidence, documenting their accounts in Part-II CDs. Medical documents and FSL reports were also collected to strengthen the case.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the investigation team and the establishment of the Special POCSO Court through collaborative efforts with the government, justice was swiftly delivered. The trial concluded within four years, with Mrs. Padmavathi presiding as the judge. On December 14, 2023, the accused was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, fined Rs.30,000/-, and the victim was awarded compensation of Rs.10,00,000/-. The Hon’ble Fast Track Special Court, focused on expeditious trial and disposal of rape and POCSO Act cases, played a pivotal role in this outcome.
In this case, the then-Inspector Mr. E Srinivas Reddy (Presently ACP), CDO Mr. J Chander Rao HC-188, Mr. P Ravi PC 6129 of Saroornagar Police Station, and Additional Public Prosecutor Mrs. Sunitha represented the prosecution.
