KOCHI: The Ernakulam Central Police has said that it will investigate the college students staying in the hostel after lethal weapons were discovered from a hostel room of Maharaja’s College. Police said, nearly six undergraduate and postgraduate students in the college hostel will be summoned for questioning. The hostel had been closed after college examinations on March 30 and all the students had gone home. ‘’Details of the students staying in the room had been collected. They will soon be served a notice asking them to appear for interrogation”, said Central Police SI Joseph Sajan, heading the probe team. Four rooms on the first floor of the college’s staff quarters were converted as hostel rooms after the old hostel was closed. Police recovered swords, iron rods, wooden sticks and other weapons from one of these rooms after it was raided on Wednesday afternoon, Police said. After a tip off by the college authorities the raid was held and an FIR under the Arms Act was lodged. Police say, the weapons could not have been kept in the room without the knowledge of its residents. The possibility of an intruder bringing the arms in to the room is being examined by Police. ]]>
