Hyderabad: On February 8, 2024, Mirchowk Police Station’s Crime staff apprehended Punpun Doley, aged 23 and residing in Hyderabad but originally from Assam, a suspect in a property offense. The seized items included cash amounting to Rs.14,50,000 and an iron bar measuring 2.5 feet, recovered from the scene of the crime.
On February 7, 2024, at 19:30 hours, a complaint was lodged by Mohd Ahmed Hussain, a 31-year-old businessman residing in Old Malakpet, Hyderabad. He reported the theft of Rs. 14,50,000 from his tractor spare parts shop, Zam Zam Fastners, situated in Sultanpura, Noorkhan Bazar. The complainant suspected his employee, Punpun, of committing the theft by breaking the locks of the shop’s grill and gate. Following the complaint, an investigation was launched, leading to Punpun’s arrest the next day in Zaheerabad District.
During the investigation, it was revealed that on February 7, 2024, at around 02:30 hours, Punpun used an iron bar to break into the shop and stole the cash from the drawer before fleeing through a small exit gate. Punpun had been employed at Zam Zam Fastners for the past six months and had been observing the daily routines of the complainant, devising a plan to commit the theft and escape to his hometown.
The arrest of Punpun was carried out by Detective Inspector N. Dilip Kumar, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Sai Chaitanya, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police Shaik Jahangir, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkateshwar Rao, along with Inspector R. Ravinder and the crime staff comprising L. Narsimha, Ch. Srinivas Rao, Santhosh, and D. Anjan Rao.
Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Sai Chaitanya commended Inspector R. Ravinder and Detective Inspector N. Dilip Kumar, as well as the crime staff, for the successful arrest of the accused and the recovery of the stolen property.
