Bidhannagar City, West Bengal: Students from the Department of Law, University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata, visited New Town Police Station under the guidance of Ms. Anuleena Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor, UEM.
During the educational visit, IC New Town Shri Shibcharan Mondal, along with other police officers, interacted with the students and provided valuable practical insights into the functioning of a modern police station.
The students were introduced to key police facilities and procedures, including the Women Help Desk, Cyber Crime Help Desk, Malkhana, Duty Officer’s responsibilities and CCTNS. Officers explained how these systems contribute to efficient policing and effective public service.
The interaction also focused on important public-safety issues, including cyber safety, women and child protection, and prevention of drug abuse. The programme provided the law students with an opportunity to understand the practical aspects of policing and the role of technology and specialized help desks in modern law enforcement.
The initiative reflects the commitment of New Town Police to promoting police-public interaction, legal awareness and meaningful engagement with the younger generation.
