Hyderabad City: The concerted efforts of the Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad City, in conjunction with the Judiciary, have resulted in a commendable display of swift and effective action, culminating in a significant triumph. Through their collaborative endeavors, the Cyber Crime Police, under the astute leadership of Mr. K. Madhusudan and Mr. Mattam Raju, Inspectors of Police, and with the direct oversight of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes, Ms. D. Kavitha, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes, Mr. Shiva Maruthi, have brought about swift assistance to victims and successfully restored their financial losses.
In one instance of the case, a victim residing in Hyderabad fell prey to an unknown individual posing as a FedEx courier service representative. The victim was duped into believing that a parcel had been booked in their name containing illegal items destined for Taiwan. Under duress, the victim transferred a staggering amount of Rs. 98,79,000 to the perpetrators. Upon realizing the deception, the victim promptly reported the incident to the Cyber Crime Police Station, Hyderabad City, leading to the registration of FIR and subsequent investigation.
Similarly, in another case, another resident of Hyderabad was deceived by an individual masquerading as a reputable stockbroker. Promises of high returns on trading through fraudulent applications led to a financial loss amounting to Rs. 1,04,8000 for the victim. Upon discovering the deceit, the victim promptly reported the matter to the Cyber Crime Police Station, resulting in the registration of FIR and subsequent investigation.
The diligent investigation officers swiftly issued notices to the beneficiary banks, requesting the freeze of accounts associated with the perpetrators. Subsequently, replies from the concerned banks, primarily located in Jammu & Kashmir and Gujarat, confirmed freezing of amounts totaling Rs. 80,76,198 and Rs. 80,48,028 in the accused bank accounts, respectively.
Further legal proceedings were expedited through collaboration with judicial officers. Remarkably, the court issued favorable orders in favor of the victims, directing the banks to deposit the frozen amounts before the Hon’ble Court. This achievement was facilitated by the Cyber Crime Police’s meticulous coordination with the judiciary, ensuring expedited legal processes.
The Cyber Crime Police’s commitment to justice and swift action has not gone unnoticed. Their exemplary work has been acknowledged by the Joint Commissioner of Police, Crimes, and the SIT of Hyderabad City, Mr. A.V. Ranganath, IPS, who has proposed suitable rewards for their meticulous efforts.
This success story serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting in combating cybercrime. Citizens are advised to verify the status of packages directly through official channels, exercise caution while engaging with unknown individuals or applications promising high returns, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities promptly.
