ASSAM: The Assam Police conducted a successful operation in seizing of narcotics and arresting the individuals involved in Cachar district.
The Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, carried out a special operation at Kachudaram Bazar Tiniali after receiving intelligence input. During the operation, one Babul Ali (40) and his wife Husnara Begum (34) were apprehended and five soap cases containing 61.79 grams of brown sugar were recovered which is valued at Rs 30.50 lakh. The legal action for the seized items have been initiated.
In a separate incident, the Cachar district police intercepted the illegal narcotics transportation which led to the arrest of Ngaibonj Kuki from Jiribam, Manipur. The operation was conducted at Phulertal Ghaat, Lakhipur and resulted in the seizure of 15 kilograms of ganja from Kuki’s possession. Now legal actions are underway in this case as well.
In a proactive war against drug trafficking, the Jagiroad Police also successfully seized a significant amount of heroin, totaling about 125 grams and apprehended three drug smugglers in this connection who are identified as Muddashir Ali, Ali Ullah, and Atabur Rahman.
The seized heroin with estimated international market value of about 1 crore rupees was found concealed in an Alto vehicle bearing registration number AS-02N-3157. The smugglers illegally brought the heroin from Juria, Nagaon district and attempted to transport the heroin to Kerala via Jagiroad using a train route.
In a another successful operation, the Hailakandi Excise Department seized a significant quantity of foreign liquor bottles totaling about 140 which was intended for smuggling from Meghalaya to Mizoram via the roads of Assam. The seizure took place after authorities intercepted a truck who attempted to transport the illicit liquor.
The Excise Department’s vigilant efforts led to the interception of the truck bearing registration number AS-01-NC-7544.
