Thoothukudi:: In Thoothukudi, Maruthu (also known as Marutubandi), aged 29 and the son of Senthil Perumal from Srivaikundam Perur South Street, attempted to murder a man near the Sayarpuram Deri Road junction within the jurisdiction of the Sayarpuram police station on March 31, 2024. He demanded money and wielded a knife in the attempt. Maruthu was subsequently apprehended by the Sayarapuram police. Additionally, Arunkumar, aged 24 and the son of Subbiah from Murappanadu Pakapatti, along with Stellabhai, attempted to murder an individual near the Bypass Road Odai Bridge under the Chipgat Police Station limits on April 5, 2024. Following an argument over money, Arunkumar allegedly attacked the victim with a sickle. He was arrested by the Sipkot police station, and Inspector Mohanraj submitted a report to the Tuticorin District Superintendent of Police. Upon recommendation from Balaji Saravanan to the Tuticorin District Collector, Mr. Co. Lakshmipati E.A., two individuals were ordered to be arrested under the Anti-Goondat Act: Maruthu (also known as Marutubandi) and Arunkumar. Consequently, the respective police inspectors arrested the accused under the Anti-Hooliganism Act and detained them in Palayangot Central Jail.
