Rachakonda: On 07.06.2024, sleuths from Yadagirigutta Rural Circle apprehended two individuals involved in chain-snatching incidents within the Yadadri-Bhongir zone, where they had been terrorizing residents. The police resolved two snatching cases and recovered six tolas of gold ornaments valued at Rs. 4,50,000/-and Bajaj CT 110X Motorcycle bearing registration number TS-08JA-2924, valued at Rs. 50,000/-. The accused have been identified as Nalla Sreekanth, son of Prabhakar, aged 25 and Nalla Prashanth, son of Prabhakar, aged 27.
The brothers hail from Kadavendi Seetharamapuram village in the Devaruppala mandal and are private employees in Jangaon District. Their parents had migrated to Hyderabad for their livelihood. About three years ago, Nalla Sreekanth married a woman from the Muslim community, and they have a son. Sreekanth, employed at a pharma company, struggled to meet his expenses and support his family. After reading a news article about chain-snatching, he decided to commit similar offences to ease his financial burdens and informed his brother Prashanth, who works as an Ola rider. Together, they planned to snatch chains from elderly women to earn easy money.
Two cases were filed against the brothers, one at Bhongir Rural Police Station and another at Gundala Police Station.
The accused used a two-wheeler with registration number TS 08 JA 2924, replacing the original number plate with TS 08 GH 2476. They targeted elderly women who were alone and forcefully stole their nuptial threads.
The accused were arrested on 07.06.2024 at 07:00 hrs at Gangapuram X road, Gundala by a police team led by the Circle Inspector of Police, Yadagirigutta Rural, during a vehicle check as they were on their way to commit another offence.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Dr. Tarun Joshi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, with direct guidance from Mr. M. Rajesh Chandra, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yadadri Bhongir zone, and Mr. Ch. Laxminarayana, Addl. DCP. The operation was executed by Mr. P. Ramesh Kumar, ACP Yadadri Division, Mr. M. Kondal Rao, Circle Inspector of Police, Yadagirigutta Rural, D. Yakanna, Sub-Inspector of Police, Gundala, and their team consisting of K. Prashanth PC 3797, A. Saidulu, PC 4356 of Gundala Police Station, and B. Vinod, PC 4441 of Motakondur Police Station.
