Ramanathapuram: In Ramanathapuram District, the Police Department organized an International Drug Eradication Day event at Thiruvadan Government College. The awareness program was jointly conducted by the College National Welfare Program and Thiruvadan Sub-Division Police. National Welfare Program Officer Dr. P. Manimegala led the event under the guidance of College Principal Dr. M. Palaniappan, with DSP Nireshpalanivel presiding and addressing the attendees. He highlighted the dangers of various types of drugs and the adverse effects on students’ lives. DSP Nireshpalanivel mentioned that the police department supports individuals recovering from drug addiction and advised those affected to contact the Hello Police toll-free number 83000 31100 for assistance. Pro-Inspector Sundaramurthy delivered the keynote address, while College lecturer Saravanan welcomed the attendees. Police Inspector Jayapandian and college students participated, with all students taking the anti-drug awareness pledge. Professor Malarvizhi Rekha concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
Earlier, a painting and essay competition on drug eradication awareness was held at Chinna Keeramangalam private school. The winning students received awards from DSP Niresh Palanivel and the school’s principal, Amala Jayarani.
