Telangana: Mr. Jitender, the newly appointed DGP of Telangana, hails from a farming family in Jalandhar, Punjab. He was selected for the Andhra Pradesh cadre in the 1992 IPS batch. He served as ASP in Nirmal and Additional SP in Bellampally. During his tenure as SP of Mahabubnagar and Guntur districts, he faced significant Maoist influence. Later, he worked with the Greyhounds and the Delhi CBI from 2004 to 2006.
On 10.07.2024 an order for the transfers and postings of IPS Officers were notified with immediate effect. The order stated Dr. Jitender, IPS (1992), Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department is transferred and posted as Director General of Police (Coordination), O/o the Director General of Police, Telangana, Hyderabad and will also hold Full Additional Charge of the post of Director General of Police (HoPF), Telangana, Hyderabad vice Mr. Ravi Gupta, IPS (1990) transferred.
On transfer, Mr. Ravi Gupta, IPS (1990) is posted as Special Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department in his present scale of pay. This transfer was by the order and in the name of The Governor of Telangana.
