Telangana: State DGP C.V. Anand clarified that the main goal of Telangana Police Department is the welfare of police personnel and their families. During the review meeting of Police Welfare Society and Health Security (Arogya Bhadratha) departments held at the DGP office on Monday, the implementation of welfare schemes, their progress and future activities were detailed. Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said the department is effectively implementing several welfare programs to improve the living standards of police personnel and provide financial and social security to their families. Police said they are offering merit scholarships, meritorious scholarships to promote talent in children. Also said that higher education is being promoted by providing special financial assistance and scholarships to students preparing for JEE, NEET as well as national and state level competitive exams. The DGP explained that it is providing comprehensive financial security to the staff through welfare schemes like marriage loans, medical loans, education loans, merit scholarships, meritorious scholarships, additional corpus insurance, various grants.

While 33,126 policemen and their family members were treated under the Police Health and Security Scheme in the year 2025, it has been revealed that 12,392 people had received medical services through the scheme by June 2026. For this in 2025 Rs. 181.74 crores, Rs by 2026 June. It is reported that 73.61 crores have been spent.

Families are assured with Group Accidental Insurance

Families of police officers who died in the line of duty are being provided with financial protection through a Group Personal Accidental Insurance policy. Under this scheme, insurance protection of Rs. 5 lakhs from constable to ASI, Rs. 10 lakhs to ASI, RS.10 lakhs to inspectors, Rs.15 lakhs to DSPs, Rs.25 lakhs to IPS and above are being given.

Misuse of welfare schemes will not be tolerated

The DGP warned that attempts to convert welfare schemes into business activities will not be tolerated. It is suggested that everyone should follow ethical values so that welfare schemes are implemented according to their original objective. Thousands of police families have expressed concern that if a few people act for selfish purposes, it would cost thousands of police families.

Measures to strengthen welfare funds

Young India Police School, Police Child Education, Civils, Group Coaching, Scholarships, Marriage Assistance and other welfare programs. Officials have been ordered to further increase the budget required for the implementation of these schemes.

Using technology for transparency and accountability

The DGP suggested that the use of technology should be increased widely in the welfare and health security departments. It has been ordered to design a digital platform to register all aspects of welfare scheme beneficiaries such as details, equation of funds, usage, service implementation in a comprehensive online system. It was suggested that welfare committees should be completely digitized, to enhance transparency, accountability, and to set up welfare committees by status. The department has been instructed to determine the rental rates of commercial complexes transparently, leased in a way that is accessible to staff and public, utilize departmental resources efficiently and supply additional income sources for welfare programs.

Low interest loans available

Open plot loans at 9 percent interest, home loans at 6.75 percent interest, personal loans up to Rs.5 lakh at 11 percent interest, daughter marriage up to Rs. 6 lakh and domestic higher education loans up to Rs. 30 lakhs. DGP speaking at the end of the review, “The actual purpose of every welfare scheme is to provide justice to every eligible police employee. Every rupee should be spent responsibly. The welfare system will only be strengthened with transparency, ethics and effective management,” said.

Concerned officials have handed over details to DGP through power point presentation on welfare programs. The DGP has instructed the officials to implement the decisions taken in the meeting efficiently. He reiterated that the main goal of Telangana Government and Telangana Police Department is to provide security and welfare to every police family.

In this meeting DGP C.V. Anand, DG (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagavat, ADG Sanjay Jain, IG (Multizone-2) Shahnawaz Qasim, IG (Provision and Logistics) Gajrao Bhopal, Police Welfare, Health Security Secretary Uday Kumar Reddy, Finance Advisor Sarath Kumar, Telangana Police Association representatives Gopi Reddy, Srinivas Reddy along with other senior officials were present.
