Thoubal: In Thoubal District on the 15th of July, 2024, a coordinated operation by security forces led to the successful rescue of a kidnapped individual. The operation also resulted in the arrest of five cadres belonging to the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (Nongdrenkhomba faction). The rescue and arrests took place in the Khongjom Tekcham Makha area, under the jurisdiction of Khongjom Police Station.
The arrested cadres were identified as Konsam Rohit Singh, aged 23 years; Yanglem Bikash Meitei, aged 24 years; Thangjam Chanba Singh, aged 27 years; Moirangthem Anand Singh, aged 37 years; and Keisham Nelson Singh, aged 28 years
During the operation, security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and other items from the possession of the arrested individuals. The seized items include:
Four 9mm pistols, each accompanied by a magazine with ten live rounds of ammunition.
An additional eight live rounds of various calibers.
One live round for a 12-bore shotgun.
One four-wheeler vehicle, which is suspected to have been used in the kidnapping.
Seven mobile phones, which are believed to contain crucial information regarding the operations of the KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) faction.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts and coordination between various security agencies to combat insurgency and criminal activities in the region. The arrested individuals are currently in custody and will undergo further interrogation to extract more information about their activities and associates. The rescue of the kidnapped individual and the arrest of the cadres is a significant blow to the KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) faction and its operations in the area.
