Bilaspur: The Bilaspur Police have apprehended members of the notorious “Inter-State Basor Gang,” who were involved in multiple gold and silver thefts across various districts in Chhattisgarh, including Raipur, Janjgir-Champa, Balod, Baloda Bazar, Ambikapur, and the Bilaspur areas of Sipat and Chakarbhatha.
Under the leadership of Bilaspur Range Inspector General of Police Sanjeev Shukla (IPS) and Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh (IPS), the police team made significant efforts to catch this gang. Additional SP Anuj Kumar, DSP Udayan Behar, and City Superintendent of Police Nimitesh Singh led the team that camped in Singrauli, Mirzapur, Banaras, and Jaunpur for seven days. They successfully apprehended the criminals using CCTV footage, technical data, and local intelligence.
The police have recovered approximately 33 kg of silver jewelry, 125 grams of gold jewelry, Rs 4 lakh in cash, a Honda City car, a Pulsar motorcycle, and six mobile phones from the seven arrested members. The total value of the recovered property is estimated to be around Rs 52 lakh.
The suspects were identified based on CCTV footage and technical data, with tattoos on their bodies aiding in their identification. The arrested gang members are Lalman alias Badka, Ramdhin Basor, Siyaram Basor, Lalji alias Kinka Basor, Rajendra Gupta alias Gudda Baniya, Manish Soni alias Sushant alias Sonu, and Amit Singh, all from Singrauli District, Madhya Pradesh. During interrogation, the suspects disclosed plans to rob another jewelry store in Tapkara, Jashpur district.
The Inspector General of Police and the Superintendent of Police commended the police team for their dedication in solving this serious crime and announced cash rewards for them. This success is the result of the team’s relentless hard work, dedication, and commitment.
Several criminal cases are already registered against the arrested suspects in both Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. During questioning, they admitted to committing several other thefts in the state. The police are continuing to gather information about other members of the gang, and the search for additional suspects is ongoing.
