Puducherry: In Puducherry, the Traffic Police Station (East) organized a meeting under the aegis of the Accident Reduction and Safety Committee (ARSC), led by the Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic/NE, in collaboration with the Municipal Commander. This meeting specifically targeted shopkeepers operating along JN Street, aiming to address ongoing traffic management and public safety concerns.
During the session, the shopkeepers were thoroughly sensitized to the need for effective parking management, especially regarding their own vehicles and those of their sales staff. They were instructed to make use of the Old Jail Complex for parking, which has been designated for this purpose. The officials emphasized the convenience of the monthly parking pass system available at the complex, encouraging shopkeepers to take full advantage of this facility to ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother pedestrian movement.
Furthermore, the shopkeepers were strongly advised against encroaching on footpaths in front of their shops, as such actions hinder pedestrian access and create safety hazards. The meeting sought to foster greater cooperation from the business community in improving traffic flow and enhancing public safety in the area, ensuring a more organized and pedestrian-friendly environment on JN Street.
