Andhra Pradesh, Srikakulam: The Srikakulam district police, under the leadership of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sri KV Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, have intensified efforts to monitor and prevent unlawful and anti-social activities through the deployment of drone technology. As part of this initiative, drones are being extensively utilized to carry out surveillance in crime-prone and poorly managed areas falling within the jurisdiction of Rpuram Police Station. This approach is part of a broader strategy to enhance law enforcement capabilities and ensure public safety.
On Thursday, specific areas, including Tirupatipalem, PCini, Maruvada, Chillapetarajam, Boddapadu, Kotapadu, and other villages under the Rpuram Police Station limits, were closely monitored using drone cameras. The surveillance focused on identifying and addressing a range of unlawful activities such as gambling, the use and distribution of marijuana, public consumption of alcohol, and gatherings in unauthorized locations that disrupt public order. Additionally, efforts were made to monitor and control activities that pose a risk to public safety, including chain-snatching, eve-teasing, and other forms of nuisance behavior.
The deployment of drones has proven effective in observing areas that are otherwise difficult to monitor, ensuring that law enforcement can respond promptly to potential threats. The police are also targeting makeshift camps and gatherings that promote illegal behaviors, taking special care to dismantle such operations swiftly.
Srikakulam District SP Sri KV Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, emphasized the importance of proactive surveillance and reiterated the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order. He issued a stern warning that individuals caught engaging in illegal, anti-social, or disruptive activities would face strict legal action. The SP also highlighted that such surveillance initiatives would continue in the future, aiming to foster a safe and secure environment for all residents within the district.
