Haryana, Fatehabad, April 15: In a significant operation under the ongoing anti-drug campaign led by District Superintendent of Police Aastha Modi, the Fatehabad police have successfully apprehended a youth from Rajasthan with a substantial quantity of opium. The arrested individual has been identified as Kanhaiya Lal Berwa, son of Shankar Lal, a resident of Tumdiya in District Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.
Inspector Kuldeep, the in-charge of Police Station Sadar Fatehabad, reported that the ANC staff from Fatehabad, under the leadership of ASI Major Singh, were actively patrolling in an effort to apprehend criminals when they received a tip-off. The information indicated that Kanhaiya Lal, known for his involvement in the supply of opium, was spotted near Bhattu Mode at the bus stand in village Kharakhedi, carrying a large amount of opium in his backpack.
When the police team arrived at the designated location, they observed a youth sitting under the bus stand shed with a backpack. Upon noticing the police, the suspect became visibly nervous and attempted to flee toward the back of the shed. Acting on suspicion, the police detained him and conducted an immediate search. The suspect identified himself as Kanhaiya Lal, and upon inspection, officers recovered 1 kilogram and 28 grams of opium from his backpack.
Subsequently, Kanhaiya Lal was arrested, and a case was filed against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Sadar Police Station in Fatehabad. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover further details regarding his involvement in the drug trade.
This arrest is seen as a significant success in the district’s ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and its associated crimes.
