Punjab, Tarn Taran: In a significant breakthrough, Tarn Taran Police arrested two individuals — Sukhdev Singh alias Dev and Swaran Kumar alias Ghora — near Sarai Amanat Khan, effectively foiling a major arms smuggling operation. Acting on precise intelligence, the police confronted the suspects, during which Sukhdev Singh opened fire on the officers. He sustained injuries in retaliatory firing and is currently being treated at Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran.
The operation led to the recovery of one Glock 9MM pistol, one PX5 .30 calibre pistol, seven live cartridges, and three empty shells. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and were involved in supplying illegal firearms across Tarn Taran and nearby districts.
Punjab Police has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling illegal arms smuggling networks and maintaining the safety and security of the region. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the broader network behind this smuggling module.
