Hyderabad, Telangana: Traffic Police is implementing a one-way traffic movement system around KBR Park with effect from 18.08.2026, in view of the ongoing construction of flyovers and underpasses under the H-CITI Project in and around the KBR Park corridor.
Due to the ongoing construction activity, the existing carriageway is being utilized for traffic movement with reduced available road space. With traffic volumes continuing to remain high, movement in both directions on the available carriageway is likely to result in significant congestion, delays and conflict points. In order to ease congestion, improve traffic flow and ensure safer movement for commuters, Hyderabad Traffic Police has decided to implement the one-way system around KBR Park.
Two Pilot Trials Conducted
Before taking up the arrangement on a regular basis, Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted two pilot trials to assess the feasibility and operational requirements of the proposed system:
●First Trial: 05.04.2026 – implemented for approximately 3 hours.
●Second Trial: 21.06.2026 – implemented for approximately 6 hours.
The traffic flow, junction performance, lane discipline, congestion points and commuter movement were monitored during both trials. Based on the observations and lessons from these trials, necessary modifications have been incorporated and the one-way traffic arrangement is now being implemented from 18.08.2026 onwards.
Arrangements for Smooth Implementation
To facilitate a smooth transition for commuters, Hyderabad Traffic Police has made the following arrangements:
●Proper lane markings and lane changers at required locations.
●Installation of directional and traffic signages at strategic points.
●Traffic Police personnel deployed round-the-clock (24×7) at important locations to guide and assist commuters.
●Necessary Google Maps/navigation route changes to assist commuters in planning their journeys.
●Continuous monitoring through the Integrated Command and Control Centre/CCTV network.
●Drone-based monitoring at suitable locations for real-time assessment of traffic flow and congestion.
●Continuous review of traffic conditions during the initial implementation period and necessary field-level adjustments.
Do’s and Don’ts for Commuters, Visitors & Walkers
DO’S:
•Plan Ahead: Plan your journeys in advance considering the new one-way traffic flow.
•Follow Instructions: Strictly follow lane markings, directional signages, and instructions given by Traffic Police personnel deployed on duty.
•Give Way to Emergency Vehicles: Ensure an unobstructed passage for emergency vehicles (such as ambulances and fire tenders) through Lane II, with assistance from on-duty traffic personnel.
•Follow Official Advisories: Refer to official social media handles and navigation apps updated by the Hyderabad Traffic Police for accurate traffic updates.
•Park Responsibly (For KBR Park Walkers/Visitors): Park vehicles only in designated parking zones and strictly observe the revised traffic flow during morning and evening peak hours.
DON’TS:
•NO Wrong-Side Driving: Strictly avoid driving on the wrong side of the road or against the designated traffic flow—even during night/off-peak hours when traffic volume is low. Wrong-side driving poses a severe risk of head-on collisions and endangers lives.
•NO Illegal/Obstructive Parking: Do not park vehicles on the wrong side of the road, on bends, or in a manner that obstructs traffic, creates bottlenecks, or blocks emergency movement.
•NO Relying on Unverified Rumors: Do not rely on or forward unverified traffic information circulating on unofficial social media groups. Trust only official updates from the Hyderabad Traffic Police.
Appeal for Cooperation
The one-way arrangement is being introduced as a traffic-management measure necessitated by the ongoing H-CITI construction works and the resulting limitation of the available carriageway, with the primary objective of maintaining smoother and safer traffic movement around KBR Park.
Hyderabad Traffic Police requests the cooperation of all citizens during this transition period. Following the prescribed traffic direction, lane discipline, and signages will be essential for the success of this new arrangement.
Citizens are requested to strictly follow official Hyderabad Traffic Police advisories and field instructions, and avoid relying on unverified information circulating on social media.
Hyderabad Traffic Police will continuously monitor the traffic situation 24×7 through CCTV surveillance, drone inputs, and field-level deployment, and will make necessary operational adjustments based on real-time traffic conditions.
