Kerala, Malappuram: Citizens in need of urgent police help can now dial 112, the all-in-one Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) helpline, for swift assistance. This unified emergency number has replaced the older 100 service and now connects callers to police, fire & rescue services, and ambulances—ensuring faster, coordinated emergency response across Kerala.
All 112 calls from within the state are routed to a centralized control room at the Kerala Police Headquarters, where trained officers receive the emergency alert, gather crucial details, and immediately dispatch the nearest available police vehicle.
Equipped with GPS-enabled tracking systems and in-vehicle tablets, police teams are notified instantly with real-time location data. Alerts are also simultaneously transmitted to district control rooms, ensuring seamless coordination and quick on-ground action.
In an important feature of public convenience, 112 can be dialed even from phones without an active outgoing facility—ensuring that help is always within reach. The service is accessible 24/7 from both mobile and landline numbers.
Citizens can also access emergency support through the official ‘POL-APP’ mobile application, by simply pressing the SOS button, providing an additional layer of safety for users on the move.
The Kerala Police urges the public to use 112 strictly for genuine emergencies, so that resources remain available for those in urgent need. This initiative reflects the police department’s commitment to swift, smart, and citizen-friendly services.
