Malappuram, Kerala: In another major success under Operation Toofan, the district police dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug trade by arresting a suspected drug peddler and seizing 405 grams of MDMA, a banned synthetic narcotic, during a targeted enforcement operation.
Acting on credible intelligence, the District Police Chief’s Special Investigation Team conducted a search operation near the Angadipuram overbridge within the limits of Perinthalmanna Police Station. During the operation, the team apprehended Phoolan Mani alias Anil, a resident of Notappuram, Vengara Kannattipadi, who was allegedly in possession of the prohibited substance for the purpose of illegal sale.
The police recovered 405 grams of MDMA, a highly addictive synthetic drug that poses a serious threat to public health, particularly among the youth. The accused was taken into custody, and legal proceedings were initiated under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of Operation Toofan, the district police’s sustained campaign against drug trafficking and narcotics-related crime. Through intelligence-based policing, continuous surveillance, and swift enforcement, the police are actively dismantling drug distribution networks and preventing the circulation of dangerous substances in the community.
