Hyderabad City, Telangana: In a continued effort to combat drug abuse among youth, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), in collaboration with the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC) Anti-Narcotics Forum, organised an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme at Keshav Memorial Educational Society, Narayanaguda.
The session was addressed by Sri Y.V.S. Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/H-NEW, who spoke to students about the grave dangers of drug abuse and the serious legal consequences that follow. He appealed to the students to stay away from drug-related influences and to embrace a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Both H-NEW and HCSC reaffirmed their dedication to conducting similar awareness initiatives regularly. Their joint mission is to safeguard the youth and work collectively towards making Hyderabad a drug-free city.
Acting on Aravind’s instructions, Harikrishna later attempted to transport the ganja to Mangalhat, Hyderabad. However, alert police teams intercepted him at IS Sadan X Road and took him into custody. The seized property includes 45 kg of dry ganja, a Hyundai Verna car used for transportation, and a Samsung mobile phone.
While Harikrishna has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, his two associates—Thunam Aravind and Sarath Kumar Sahu—remain at large. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding accused. This operation highlights the Hyderabad Police’s ongoing commitment to cracking down on narcotics smuggling and ensuring a drug-free society.
