Rachakonda, Telangana, 15 July 2025: In a swift and highly professional operation, the Rachakonda Police have successfully apprehended three accused involved in the murder of Sri Vasthapula Swamy, a resident of Pallerla village, within 24 hours of the incident. The arrest was carried out by the Yadadri Division Police, demonstrating their efficiency, investigative skill, and dedication to justice.
Incident Overview:
On the night of 13 July 2025, the victim, Sri Vasthapula Swamy, was returning home from Bhongir on a motorcycle along with a friend. Around 23:15 hrs, on the outskirts of Katepally village (Raigiri–Mothkur road), a car intentionally rammed the victim’s two-wheeler and dragged it approximately 120 feet, resulting in the death of Swamy on the spot. His friend, Veerababu, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad.
Investigation & Arrests:
During the investigation, police uncovered a conspiracy involving personal motives and strained relationships. The victim’s wife, Vasthapula Swathi, had developed an extramarital affair with Gunti Sai Kumar, and both, with the assistance of Pottepaka Mahesh, conspired to eliminate the victim. They were also aided by Cheemala Ramalinga Swamy, who is currently absconding.
Following credible intelligence, a special police team arrested the following accused on 14 July 2025:
- Gunti Sai Kumar, resident of Pallepahad village, Thurkapally Mandal
- Vasthapula Swathi, resident of Pallerla village, Athmakur Mandal
- Pottepaka Mahesh, tea stall owner from Athmakur Mandal
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the absconding accused, Cheemala Ramalinga Swamy, resident of Bhongir.

Based on the confessions of the accused and caste verification, relevant sections under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been invoked.
