Amritsar, Punjab: In a major intelligence-led operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled a cross-border narcotic and arms network, arresting six operatives and recovering 4.03 kg of heroin and two pistols (one Glock 9mm and one .30 bore pistol).
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were in contact with a Pakistan-based handler, Shah, through social media platforms. They were receiving heroin and weapons consignments in the Khemkaran and Ferozepur sectors, which were being pushed into Indian Territory via drones by Pakistan-based smugglers, intended for distribution in the Amritsar region.
A case has been registered at Police Station Gate, Islamabad (Amritsar), and further investigations are underway to expose the entire nexus, including both backward and forward linkages of the network.
The Punjab Police reiterated its firm commitment to eradicating narco-terrorism and organized crime networks to ensure the safety and security of Punjab.
