Rachakonda, Telangana: Taking a pioneering step towards safeguarding the dignity and well-being of elders, the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate in collaboration with the Rachakonda Security Council (RKSC) has launched the “Golden Care – Care for those who cared Us” initiative. This unique program is designed to extend comprehensive care, safety, and support to senior citizens living within the Rachakonda Commissionerate limits.
Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Shri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, who also serves as Chairman of RKSC, the initiative promises a wide range of support services. These include regular outreach visits, moral and emotional support, cyber safety awareness, medical and emergency assistance through hospital tie-ups, and SOS facility setup for urgent help. Senior citizens will also receive guidance on availing government welfare schemes such as pensions, health insurance, and medical aid.
The Rachakonda Police have further committed to providing assistance in reporting financial scams, intervening in cases of physical or emotional abuse, addressing neglect and abandonment complaints, and tracing lost belongings or missing persons. Legal backing for the initiative is reinforced by provisions such as Section 144 of BNSS, which holds dependents accountable for neglect, and the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, which empowers senior citizens to claim support from their children.
Senior citizens can reach out directly through the dedicated Helpline (14567) or the Rachakonda Police WhatsApp number (8712662111). Commissioner Shri G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, expressed the vision behind the initiative, stating: “Our senior citizens are the true pillars of strength and wisdom in our society. Through Golden Care, we are not just providing security, but also compassion, dignity, and respect.”
The launch event witnessed the presence of all Deputy Commissioners of Rachakonda, RKSC Joint Secretary Shri Siva Karadi, Chief Coordinator Mrs. Savithri, Shri Suryanarayana, senior officers, dignitaries, and RKSC Traffic Marshals, who pledged their support to this noble cause.
“Golden Care” is a reflection of the strong community spirit fostered by Rachakonda Police and RKSC, ensuring that elders feel valued, secure, and cared for. With regular review meetings planned, the initiative aims to expand its reach and ensure that no senior citizen within the commissionerate is left without support.
